MTRS and TFHS Apply for Co-op Status to Save Football Program
Mohawk Trail Regional School (MTRS) and Turners Falls High School (TFHS) agreed this week to move forward with an application for a co-operative football program. Dwindling player rosters for both MTRS and TFHS put each program in danger of having to forfeit their opportunity to play this year. Looking to continue the tradition of offering football at these schools, but keeping student athlete at the forefront of the conversation, the schools decided to work together.

MTRSD awarded $59,978 Safer Schools and Communities Grant for Security Upgrades
MTRSD received an awarded $59,978 through the Safer Schools and Communities "Local Equipment and Technology" grant offered by the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security's Office of Grants and Research to improve and upgrade school security measures. Student safety is always our first priority. We are aware of your concerns and are taking every measure possible to ensure your children are safe at school, and just as importantly, that they feel safe and secure while at school.
Superintendent Michael Buoniconti has taken steps to ensure our schools have “layers of defense,” including video surveillance and fire doors within locked exterior doors. We are taking critical measures to ensure safety while striving to maintain an open and inviting feel at our schools. We care about safety, because we’re parents too.
